ROHR AND EAGLE'S MUSLIM PLAYERS IN A DISPUTE OVER RAMADAN

Rohr And Eagles Muslim Players Disagree Over Ramadan Fast

The muslim players in the senior national team of Nigeria are right now at loggerheads with coach Gernot Rohr over their arrangements to observe Ramadan Fast upon the arrival of the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa.

Rohr permitted Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi to observe the compulsory ramadan fast in the friendly match against Togo, and despite the fact that the players broke their fast during the half time break as the time had come to, the coach still substituted them after the break.

Prior the AFCON qualifier against South Africa, the coach has met with the duo and requested that they don't observe the fast on the matchday against South Africa, as they are extremely essential to his plans.

The players are yet to buy in to his request, with Musa especially not enthused about skipping the fast which prohibits them from eating from morning till evening refering to his being used to the practice from his days in Nigeria.

Same goes for Abdullahi, though Alhassan Ibrahim the other muslim in the squad does not need to worry much in light of the fact that the odds of him getting a starting place in the match is exceptionally thin judging by the choices available to the coach in his part.
